What will happen if you show up on Sunday?
You will be greeted warmly by one of our Guest Ministers, who will give you a Sunday Bulletin with the week's Bible readings and announcements. You may sit wherever you find it comfortable in our worship space (the former Portuguese dance hall!). If you have young children, you will be asked if you would like them to stay in the nursery for the first part of the service, or stay with you. Sunday School-aged children (up through 6th grade) will be asked if they would like to join the class or remain with you. (note the nursery hasn't recovered since COVID and young people are invited to quietly hang out in the back area with their parents or friends,)
A Worship Bulletin by your seat will guide you through the service, and you are also welcome to ask your neighbor for help if you get confused. All the readings are from the Bible. The sermon (about 10-15 minutes) will help apply the Bible readings to your daily life. After the Bible readings, sermon and prayers, "the Peace of Christ" will be offered by the priest, and you and those sitting around you will greet each other. This is the time when the children join the adults for the second part of the service, known as the Eucharist or Communion. Of course, you can also have your preschool-age children stay in the nursery during the whole service, if you prefer.

You and your children are welcome to receive Communion. It is not our table, but Jesus's, and all are welcome! Post-COVID we form a line to receive bread from the celebrant, and then get a personal cup of wine or juice from a helper. Facing the altar, wine is on the right and juice is on the Left. If need gluten-free bread or choose not to have bread, please quietly let the celebrant know.
After communion, you will be invited and encouraged to stay for coffee and fellowship, an invitation you may choose to decline, of course.
It all starts by you coming to visit…we'd love to meet you and welcome you to Christ the Lord Church!
